The Rye Football Netball Clubs Annual General Meeting was held at the Clubrooms on Wednesday night December the 6th. A changing of the guard, with the great Mick O’Rourke, retiring after 22 years as President. The club is indebted to Mick and his work not just over the last 22 years as President, but his work around the club since 1969. Stepping into some big shoes is another club legend in Reg Chadwick. Congratulations Reg, who now becomes the 6th President in the club 78th year.

Founded in 1946, The Rye Football Club  has played in 20 senior grand finals, winning 8 premierships. A proud and strong club on and off the field , one of the club’s outstanding achievements in its 78 years, is that there has only ever been 6 Presidents, Wilfred Rowley 1946 – 58, Clarrie Jennings 1959 – 79, Nick Appleford 1980 -95, Colin Beel 1996 – 2001, Rye legend Mick O’Rourke 2002 – 2023 and now in 2024 ex player and life member Reg Chadwick. 

Netball is now an integral part of the club and since its inception in 2009, has been overwhelmingly successful, playing in 6 A Grade grand finals and winning 3. The club now has 5 Netball sides, the Under 17’s, and A, B, C and D Grade teams.
